Description

The bridge over the River Sheppey, located in the grounds of Dinder House, dates from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed from dressed stone and features vermiculated ashlar abutments that support the inclined roadway approaches. The bridge has a broad elliptical archway spanning the river, with vermiculated voussoirs and prominent rustic keystones. Each side of the bridge is adorned with an ornamental parapet, which includes splayed ends, vase balusters, and intermediate and end antae. This bridge predates Dinder House and serves as an important feature in the surrounding landscape.
