7/216 Style House, enclosing walls and front gateway

House. Probably mid-Cl9, extended in early C20. Coursed sandstone, hipped slate roofs, brick end stacks to main block. Rectangular plan oriented east/west. Three storeys, moulded wooden eaves cornice, five windows, centre advanced under gable with matching cornice to its verges. Mid-C20 cross-casements. Entry under central porch with quarter- foil frieze supported by two fluted columns, contemporary 6-panelled door. Two-storey, one window extension to south has one casement to each floor, each of six panes. Forecourt walls to south and east: coursed and square rubble. South wall about 5 feet high ramped up to corners with ball finials, central ashlar gate piers with ball finials, cast and wrough iron spear-head gates with dog rails and intersecting braces; east wall about 7 feet high, about 50 yards long, ramped up to blocked doorway to north-east of house.
