Description

Inglenook Cottage is a house dating probably from the late 17th century, with later extensions. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with a timber-frame and plaster infill. The roof is slate, and there are local stone stacks, one of which is a rendered detached shaft to the south. The original two bays are aligned roughly north/south. The west elevation has been altered with 20th-century windows: two single-light windows with nine panes to the first floor, and a pair of three-light windows on the ground floor, one either side of a beaded door. The timber frame features angle struts from the corner and central posts to the wall-plate, and V-struts from gable-collars to principals in the gable ends. A lean-to extension is attached to the south end, and a further extension, for a garage, is to the north.
