Description

Three headstones located approximately 5 meters southeast of the south porch of the Church of St Mary date from the early to mid-18th century. They are made of sandstone. The southernmost headstone features a winged cherub's head surrounded by drapery, which frames a cartouche with a convex inscription panel commemorating Elizabeth Donne, who died in 1750. The two headstones to the north have shaped heads and display incised floral and drapery motifs bordering a square inscription panel, which is accented with primitive egg and dart surrounds. These memorials are a good example of local vernacular craftsmanship.
