Description

Two adjoining barns located approximately 30 meters south-west of Court Farmhouse date from the late 17th century or early 18th century. The first barn is aligned north-west to south-east and features timber framing with sandstone rubble plinths, part weatherboarding, and part woven infill, topped with a tiled roof. The second barn, built later in the 18th century, is aligned south-west to north-east and includes part brick infill, part weatherboarding, and part corrugated metal cladding, with a similar corrugated metal roof. Together, the barns form an L shape to the south and west of the fold-yard. The earlier barn consists of four bays and has a threshing floor entrance located south of the center, with inclined strut trusses and square panelled timber-framing made up of four square panels from sill to wall-plate. The later barn also features four bays and includes two doorways, with similar square panelled framing and irregular inclined strut trusses using light scantling.
