Description
The barn located south east of Court Farmhouse dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and red brick nogging, featuring ventilation holes, and stands on a tall stone rubble plinth. The roof is slate with gabled ends. The barn has a seven-bay layout with opposing cart entrances leading to a central threshing bay, and at the south east end, there is a loft above a lower-level cellar. The exterior includes central cart entrances with plank double doors. Inside, the barn has a box-frame structure with square wall framing and long straight tension braces. The central threshing bay is flanked by low brick walls with long straight braces reaching up to the tie-beams. The three south east bays contain a loft with a cellar below, accessed by a stone ramp leading down to the lower floor level. The roof features a seven-bay king-post design with struts.
