Description
This building is a cowhouse, originally built as stables, located about 40 yards north-east of Aylton Court. It features a rubble and brick plinth that supports timber-framing with brick infill, consisting of two panels high and topped with a slate roof. The structure has four structural bays that are aligned roughly east to west. The south elevation includes three regularly spaced rectangular openings above the plinth, with two symmetrical ledged stable doors flanking a central opening. There is also a loft opening in the south gable facing Aylton Court. Inside, the cowhouse has a plank ridge supported by original trusses, which include a combination of raking struts from ties to principals and queen struts from ties to collars, all supporting V-braces.
