Description
The churchyard cross, located about 8 yards south of the chancel of the Church of St Mary, dates from the 14th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. It features three steps leading up to a square base that is approximately two feet high. From this base rises a tapering octagonal shaft, about 18 feet high, which has a square bottom with stepped pyramidal chamfers. At the top of the shaft, there is a depiction of the Crucifixion on the east face and the Virgin and Child on the west face, both covered by a small gable. This cross is a complete and finely detailed example.
