Description
This building is an outbuilding located about 10 yards north-west of Great Moorcourt Farmhouse, likely dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with brick dressings, featuring brick side walls and a tiled roof with a corner stack. The structure consists of three structural bays arranged east to west and has two levels.
On the south elevation, there is a three-light iron casement window to the right of a central doorway, which is topped by an open-fronted late 19th-century lean-to. To the left of the doorway is the stack, and there is a projecting brick eaves cornice. The gable ends have segmentally-headed loft openings with brick dressings.
Inside, two trusses divide the upper level, with aisle posts pegged to collars and tied back to the wall plate by spurs. This outbuilding serves as an interesting visual and social-historical complement to Great Moorcourt Farmhouse and is included for its group value.
