Description
Ivy Cottage is a house located approximately 65 meters south-south-west of The Old Maidenhead in Lyonshall. It dates from the 17th century, with a mid-19th century addition and alterations. The building features square panelled timber-framing, with sections of painted brick and wattle-and-daub infill, along with a sandstone rubble plinth and refacing. The roof is covered with Welsh slate.
The house is designed in an L-plan, with a timber-framed cross-wing that is aligned southwest to northeast, adjoining the northwest end of a second wing, which has a main axial stack. The entrance is located at the right gable end of the cross-wing on the northeast front. The structure has two storeys. The stone wing on the left includes one two-light casement window, while the gable end of the cross-wing on the right features two two-light casement windows. To the left of the doorway, which has a gabled canopy and a ledged door, is another similar window. The gable end of the cross-wing displays square panelled framing and decorative curved V-struts.
