Description
Wild Wood is a cottage dating from the later 17th century, with eaves raised in the 18th or 19th century and alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with rendered panels and a stone rubble plinth, topped by a slate roof with gabled ends. The building has an axial stack with a brick shaft.
The cottage has a two-room plan, with the larger room on the right and the axial stack positioned between the two rooms. It stands two storeys tall, with an asymmetrical southeast front that includes three windows on the first floor and four windows on the ground floor, all of which are 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars. There is a 20th-century door to the left of center, which is covered by a slated canopy. The rear elevation is similar in design. The large framing consists of one stud per panel, and the raised front and rear walls are supported by tension braces.
Inside, both ground floor rooms feature chamfered axial beams without stops.
