Description
This is a threshing barn with stables and a coach-house, located about 20 yards west of Barton Court. It dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century. The southwest end features 5½ bays of timber framing, while the northeast end is constructed of brick from the 1890s and has a plain tiled roof. The timber-framed section has brick infill and a brick gable end with partially blocked perforated vents. The timber framing consists of three panels high. There are two entries and a doorway in between. The northeast part has black brick lacing courses and dentils, three windows, and a wide 20th-century garage opening. To the right, there is an elliptical arch coach entry set in a slight break, along with a dentilled eaves cornice. Tallet stairs with a kennel are located at the northeast gable. The rear retains some woven panels in the upper sections of the timber-framed part. Inside, there are stone threshing floors, raking struts, and cranked braces supporting the wall posts of three southwest trusses. Additionally, two 19th-century loose boxes remain in the northeast end.
