Description

This is a late 18th-century house, now used as a shop and dwelling, located on High Street in Kington. The building is constructed of painted brick with a steep-pitched Welsh slate roof and brick end stacks, including a stack to the rear. It is three storeys high with a three-window front. A 19th-century canted bay window on the ground floor has a 1/1 sash window, alongside 3/3 sashes. The windows are set in altered openings under a gauged brick segmental arch and moulded cases with gauged brick flat arches. Later 3/3 sashes are also present in earlier moulded cases, again under gauged brick flat arches. An early 20th-century shopfront features a central part-glazed double door flanked by plate-glass windows, with moulded glazing shafts and canted returns, and a deep moulded wooden hood. The rear of the property includes twin wings, one with a tall light featuring Gothic glazing and a 19th-century two-light casement.
