Description
This is a 17th-century barn located about 12 yards south of Maund Farmhouse. It is timber-framed with some lath infill and weatherboarding, resting on a sandstone rubble base, and features a machine-tiled roof. The barn consists of three framed bays that run roughly east to west, with a central wagon bay that has opposed cart entries and double doors.
Inside, the framing includes three rows of square panels extending from the sill to the wall plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners. The gable ends have collar and tie-beam trusses, supported by three struts to the collar and a V-strut at the apex. There are also two intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts and two tiers of trenched purlins. The barn is included for its group value with Maund Farmhouse.
