Description
Two headstones, dating from the mid-18th century, are located approximately 9 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St Deinst. Made of sandstone, these headstones feature a winged cherub surrounded by an elaborate foliated scrolled design, with convex inscription panels. The left headstone commemorates Mary, the wife of John Peake, who died in 1770, while the right headstone is for John Peake, who died in 1756. These headstones are fine examples of local craftsmanship in a provincial rococo style, situated in a churchyard that contains many other notable memorials.
