Description

Dog Farmhouse is a late 16th or early 17th century farmhouse, altered in the 20th century. It is now a house. The building is timber-framed with rendered and painted brick infill, a sandstone plinth, and tiled roofs. It has an L-shaped layout: the main block runs east to west, facing south, with a rear wing extending to the north at the east end. A further addition is set to the east. The farmhouse features a central axial stack and a lateral stack to the south front of the main block, and a further lateral stack to the east of the rear wing. The doorway is to the right of the south front stack. The south front has an irregular arrangement of windows. There are three windows to the right of the stack, with 2- and 3-light casements. Two windows flank a gabled porch with a ledged door, and one 2-light window is in the single-storey addition to the right. The timber framing is largely complete, though altered, generally consisting of four square panels from sill to wall-plate.
