Description

Pax Cottage is a house dating from the early 19th century, although it may contain fabric from an earlier timber-framed building, and was altered in the 20th century. The walls are painted brick with a tiled roof. The house is single-depth and aligned east to west, facing north. It is located to the left of centre along the main street. It has a lateral chimney stack at the end of the north front, and a further lateral stack at the rear. The building is two storeys high, with a dentilled eaves cornice. The fenestration is irregular, with four windows. These include two three-light casement windows, one similar single-light window with later square heads, and a three-light window to the right, with a segmental head. On the ground floor, there is a glazing bar sash window with a segmental head to the left, a canted bay window, a single-light window with a square head and a 20th-century window with a segmental head to the right of the ledged door. A continuous pentice covers the door and bay window. The building is included on the list for its group value.
