2/53 Barnett memorial about 5 metres north-east of chancel of Church of St Mary

GV II

Chest tomb. Elinor Barnett, died 1831. Ashlar. Bold corner balusters, oval inscription panel with fluted spandrels, moulded cornice, ridged and hipped top. Inscription: "Sacred/ to the memory of Elinor/ wife of Theophilus Barnett/ of/ Llan-y-Coad in this Parish/ she died Janry 6th 1831 Aged 40 Years/ .....". North side panel missing. This is a good example of stone masonry and enhances the setting of the church; it contributes to the group value of the other memorials in the churchyard.
