Description
The Barnett memorial is a chest tomb located about 5 meters north-east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary. It commemorates Elinor Barnett, who died in 1831. The tomb is made of ashlar and features bold corner balusters, an oval inscription panel with fluted spandrels, a moulded cornice, and a ridged and hipped top. The inscription reads: "Sacred to the memory of Elinor wife of Theophilus Barnett of Llan-y-Coad in this Parish she died Janry 6th 1831 Aged 40 Years." The north side panel is missing. This memorial is a fine example of stone masonry and enhances the church's setting, contributing to the group value of other memorials in the churchyard.
