Description
The Walters memorial is a chest tomb located about 23 metres north of the north porch of the Church of St Mary. It commemorates Mary Walters, who died in 1806. The tomb is made of ashlar and features bold corner balusters decorated with sprigs of wheat. It has a slightly raised inscription panel flanked by husks and paterae, with a bevelled top. The inscription reads: "Sacred to the Memory of Mary/ Wife of Aeneas Walters/ of Bwlch in this Parish/ Gent/ who died 24th day of April/ 1806/ aged 73 years/ [6 more lines]." The north side panel is missing. This memorial is a fine example of stone masonry and enhances the setting of the church, contributing to the group value of the other memorials in the churchyard.
