Description

This chest tomb, dating from 1757, is located about 8 metres south of the nave of the Church of St Mary. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features a flat top with a moulded edge, engaged balusters at the corners, and a moulded plinth. The inscription on the south side commemorates Mary, the wife of the Reverend William Je...s, Vicar of the church, who died on February 5th, 1751, at the age of 6. The inscription describes her as an affectionate and tender parent, a sincere friend, and a good Christian, reflecting on the nature of care for the deceased.
