Description
The Birchall memorial, located approximately 16 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St Mary, is a chest tomb dating from around 1830. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a rectangular plan. The tomb has a moulded plinth and capping, along with fluted corner pilasters. On the south side, there is a moulded inscription panel commemorating John Birchall, who died in 1829. The north side has another inscription dedicated to his parents, William and Elizabeth, who both died in 1832. Additionally, there is an inscription on the top ledger for their daughter, Elizabeth, who passed away in 1858.
