Description

This milepost, located at the National Grid Reference SJ 7258 3738, dates from the mid-to-late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a black painted base with raised lettering. The milepost has a triangular shape with a chamfered top that slopes towards the front. The top is inscribed with "MUCKLESTONE," while the left side indicates distances to "ECCLESHALL 9" and "STAFFORD 16." The right side lists distances to "KNIGHTON 1 1/3," "PIPEGATE 2½," "WOORE 3 1/3," and "NANTWICH 11½."
