Description

Church Site Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with early and mid-18th century brick patching and 19th century alterations. The building was originally timber framed and features coursed rubble, red brick, blue brick, and some ashlar. It has a slate roof and two red brick gable stacks. The eaves are raised, and there are remnants of a few ashlar quoins. The farmhouse is two storeys plus a garret and has four bays.

The entrance includes a doorway with a part-glazed door, an overlight, a reeded surround, and a hood. On either side of the doorway are single tripartite casements set under red brick segmental arches. Above these, there are two smaller casements with similar arches and a central two-light casement. The left gable wall has been rebuilt in red brick with some blue brick chequering and is set on a plinth. The first floor features a raised brick and dentil band, with a similar band under the garret opening. The right gable wall is rubble on the ground floor and brick on the first floor, with a similar rear wing.

Inside, there are chamfered beams and other beams, as well as remnants of a few posts with curved braces. The attic has a stud partition, but the interior was not inspected at this time. It is possible that stone from the nearby church has been reused in this building.
