Description

Annabell's Farm is a farmhouse built around 1805, with some minor alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a Swithland slate roof with two brick gable stacks and dentilated brick eaves. The building is two storeys high.

The main south front has a central doorway that is framed by a moulded wooden surround, leading to a six-panel door with an overlight. On either side of the doorway are single four-by-four pane glazing bar sash windows. Above, there are two similar sash windows, all of which have brick heads. To the left, there is a lean-to privy addition with a Swithland and pantile roof and a single plank door. The west gable wall includes another lean-to with a plank door on the right and a two-light sliding sash window on the left.

The rear north front features a slightly off-centre doorway with a plank door set under a segmental brick arch. To the right of this door is a three-light sliding sash window with glazing bars, followed by two 20th-century casement windows. Above, there are two three-light sliding sashes that have brick segmental arches. The east gable front has an inserted doorway and casement windows, with a small three-light window in the gable above.

Inside, the farmhouse retains its original room arrangement, except for the former dairy in the rear right, which has been converted into store rooms. The ground floor rooms feature original spine beams with roll moulding. The front left room has a 1920s wooden fire surround adorned with Art Nouveau tiles, along with a cupboard to the left that has re-used 18th-century raised and fielded panel doors. The kitchen contains the original re-sited fire surround and range, with original cupboards to the left. There is a central original staircase, and original panel doors and plank doors are found throughout. Annabell's Farm is an unusually well-preserved example of a small late Georgian farmhouse in the local vernacular style.
