Description
Arnold's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain-tile roof that is hipped at the front and has triple gables at the rear. The building has two brick ridge stacks, a stone plinth, and brick pilasters at the front. There is a first-floor band and a moulded brick modillion eaves cornice. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with an attic and a cellar. The front has a three-window range of three-light central-opening casements, flanking a two-light window above a four-panel door that is topped with a gabled hood. Brick cambered arches are present, along with three skylights. The sides of the building are blank, and the rear is similar to the front but includes a two-light attic casement in the larger gables on both the left and right sides.
Inside, the room to the front left features chamfered beams with ogee steps, chamfered joists, and an open fireplace with a bressummer, along with salt and spice cupboards. Other interior details include chamfered beams, four-and six-panel doors, 18th-century cupboards with HL hinges, wide oak floorboards on the first floor and attic, old purlins in the roof, and winder stairs leading from the first floor to the attic. The staircase to the first floor was partially renewed in the 19th century.
