Description
Old Hall Farmhouse and Old Hall Squash Club is a farmhouse and attached barn, now serving as a house and squash club. The building dates from the late 17th century and mid 18th century, with some 20th-century alterations. The 17th-century house is constructed of red brick featuring blue brick diaper patterns, with a rubble plinth and a pantile roof. It has a single central ridge with a large rendered stack and brick coped gables supported by kneelers. There is a raised eaves band, and both the ground and first floors have lintel bands made of raised brick and dentil, with the dentil interrupted by the windows, and the raised band rising to form semi-circular arches over the windows. The structure is two storeys high and has three bays. The doorway, located to the right, features a 20th-century door, while to the left is a single casement and a tripartite casement on the far right. Above, there are two similar casements.
To the left of the main house is a lower two-storey, single bay wing from the 18th century, made of red brick and pantile, featuring a left red brick gable stack and a rubble and render plinth. This wing has a single 20th-century glazing bar bowed casement with a similar casement above. To the right, slightly set back, is a two-storey, single bay red brick range with a parapet, which includes a doorway with a 20th-century door and a single 20th-century glazing bar casement above.
Projecting from the right is the 18th-century red brick and pantile barn, now the squash club, which has brick coped gables, kneelers, and a raised eaves band. This barn is also two storeys high and has three bays, featuring a central large blocked doorway with two fixed lights above.
