Description

Honeypot Cottage is a building that originally consisted of two cottages but is now a single cottage. It dates from the early to mid-17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The structure is timber framed with red brick nogging and extensions, along with some rubble. It has a slate roof with a single ridge and a former gable, featuring a red brick chimney stack.

The cottage is two storeys high and has five bays. The right two bays project and are taller, dating from the mid-17th century. The early 17th-century section is built on a deep rubble plinth, while the mid-17th-century section sits on a shallower rubble plinth. From left to right, the front facade includes a single 20th-century glazing bar casement window, a doorway with a 20th-century glazing bar door, another similar casement, a doorway with a plank door, and a final similar casement. The first floor, which is from the 19th century, features three glazing bar casements.

Visible remnants of the timber frame include seven posts, former wall plates, six braces, groundsill beams, and rails. To the left of the main structure is a lower two-storey, three-bay range made of red brick and slate. This section has a doorway with a 20th-century glazing bar door, flanked by single 20th-century glazing bar casements, with a single casement above. Inside, the cottage features a bressumer fireplace and other beams.
