Description

No. 55 on Main Street is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick and has a slate roof, featuring two red brick gable stacks and brick coped gables with kneelers. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The central doorway has a panelled door, an overlight, and an open porch. On either side of the doorway are single tripartite glazing bar casements set under segmental arches. Above these are two tripartite glazing bar Yorkshire sashes.

To the right, and slightly set back, is a similar wing that also has a red brick gable stack and a brick coped gable. This wing is two storeys tall and has two bays, featuring a doorway with a plank door and a single glazing bar Yorkshire sash to the right, both under segmental arches. There is a smaller similar sash above. Attached to the right of this wing is a single storey, two bay range that mirrors the main house, with a brick coped right gable. It has a doorway with a plank door and a single casement to the right, both under segmental arches.
