Description
This is a Second World War Type 22 (FW3/22) pillbox built in 1941, part of the airfield defences for Tollerton Airfield. It is located at the grid reference SK 62400 36143 and is one of 18 surviving pillboxes around the airfield's perimeter.
The pillbox is made of red brick, featuring concrete lintels and a flat concrete roof. It has a hexagonal shape with an entrance on the south side, which is protected by a pentice. The embrasures face the airfield and have stepped brick and concrete surfaces that served as bullet stops.
An internal inspection could not be conducted due to tree growth blocking the entrance.
