Description
This is a Second World War pillbox built in 1941, part of the airfield defenses for Tollerton Airfield. It is located at the grid reference SK62380 35746 and is one of 18 surviving pillboxes around the airfield.
The pillbox is constructed of brick with concrete lintels and features a flat concrete roof. Although described as 'square', it has chamfered corners, giving it an octagonal appearance. It is situated to the east of Polsar Brook, with an entrance on the west side that is protected by a pentice. The pillbox has embrasures facing away from the airfield, each with stepped concrete surfaces that served as bullet stops. The walls are over 1 meter thick.
No internal inspection was conducted due to tree growth making access difficult.
