Description
The War Memorial located on Tollerton Lane is made of Portland Stone and was likely erected shortly after the First World War. It features a three-stepped square base topped with a plinth, shaft, and lantern cross. The front of the plinth bears the inscription "1914-1919/ IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF/ (NAMES)/ THEIRS THE GLORY OURS THE GAIN," while another side commemorates the Second World War with the inscription "1939-1945/ (NAMES)." The memorial is set on a roughly triangular paved area that includes two steps and low stone walls along the roadside. This memorial serves as a poignant reminder of the impact of global conflicts on the local community and is recognized for its good detailing and group value with three nearby listed buildings.
