Description

A pair of cottages dated to the late 17th and late 18th centuries, located on School Lane, Farndon. The cottages are built of red brick with pantile roofs. The cottage on the left is a two-storey plus garret, three-bay structure. It features a right-hand gable stack set on a rubble and brick plinth, and has a first-floor band. The single right bay projects and is gabled. The cottage on the right is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a late 18th-century red brick gable stack. The 17th-century cottage has a doorway with a plank door and, to the right, two 20th-century glazing bar casements of differing sizes. The 18th-century cottage has a central doorway with a 20th-century door and a gabled wooden hood flanked by single 20th-century casements of differing sizes. Above both cottages are two 20th-century glazing bar casements. Two-storey extensions are located to the rear right. The interior of the 17th-century cottage contains a contemporary winder stair with turned balusters.
