Description

A row of four late 18th-century houses, now shops, located on Bridge Street, Newark on Trent. The brick facades are yellow, with stone dressings, and topped with a slate roof featuring two gable stacks and a single ridge stack. An incomplete first-floor band runs along the top of the main facade, beneath a moulded cornice and a coped parapet. The original windows have flat arches, and some are painted.

The building is arranged over three storeys plus attics, with a ten-window front arranged in a 2:5:3 pattern, the central five windows slightly projecting. A 3-light casement window has been inserted, flanked by blank spaces. The left side features a small sash window, followed by two 12-pane sashes. The right side has a plain sash, a blank, and then three plain sashes. The upper floors follow a similar arrangement, with several blank spaces between plain sashes. The attic level mirrors this pattern, with 6-pane sashes and blanks.

A stone-clad shopfront, dating from the 20th century, occupies the central section, featuring round-cornered recesses. To the right of this is a rendered front with three round-headed windows. To the left, a shopfront incorporates a recessed door and a plastic fascia.
