Description

This is a corner shop and house dating to circa 1820, situated on Victoria Street in Newark on Trent. The building is constructed of brick, partly colourwashed, with stucco dressings and a hipped and gabled pantile roof featuring two ridge stacks. It has a plinth, brick pilasters and multi-keyed lintels.

The rounded corner features a sixteen-pane window above a two-leaf, half-glazed door with an overlight. The front facing Victoria Street has two dummy sashes, flanked by single cross casements. Below, there is an off-centre close-boarded door with overlight, to the left of which is a six-pane shop window and to the right, two glazing bar sashes.

The side facing Parliament Street has a two-window range with pilasters. There is a cross casement window and a dummy sash. Below, a glazing bar sash is positioned next to a four-pane shop window with a cornice on brackets. To the left, a single window range is set back and incorporates a glazing bar sash, with a round-headed entry containing a close-boarded door, imposts, and a blank fanlight positioned below it.
