Description

1 Greasleys Cottages and Pitchforks Cottage is a house dating from the mid-19th century, with a rear range that was formerly four cottages from the 17th and 18th centuries. The building features a combination of timber framing and brick, with brick nogging, and has gabled and hipped roofs covered in pantiles. Notable architectural details include cogged eaves, a single coped gable with kneelers, a single gable, two side wall stacks, and a ridge stack.

The house is two storeys high, two bays wide, and five bays deep. The north front facing the street has a central door flanked by single glazing bar sash windows, with two similar sashes above. All openings have segmental heads. On the west side, there are two doors on the left, flanked by single Yorkshire sashes. To the right, there is a doorway and an unglazed window, followed by another door and a glazing bar sash, all with segmental heads. Above these, there are four glazing bar sashes of varying sizes. The south gable features an off-centre doorway with a Yorkshire sash above it. The south end displays two bays of timber framing, which include two bay posts, a strut, and a wall plate, with intermediate rails and chamfered span beams, one of which has stops, along with a chamfered fireplace bressummer.
