Description
Ivy Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century. It is timber-framed with brick nogging, and has been rendered. The roof is steeply pitched, covered with pantiles. The building has a brick and stone plinth, a band marking the first floor, and a single tumbled coped gable with kneelers. It features two gable stacks. Originally two bays wide, the north side was refronted in the 19th century. The north side has a 20th-century weatherboarded lean-to covering a corner post. To the left of the lean-to is a close-boarded door, followed by a Yorkshire sash window, a small light, and a half-glazed door, with another Yorkshire sash window beyond. Above, there is a small fixed light flanked by single Yorkshire sash windows. The west gable has a Yorkshire sash window with a segmental head on the right, and a 20th-century casement window above. The south side features a casement window. Inside, there is a top bay post and a wall plate. The roof is a principal rafter design with large clasp purlins. The roof space contains a full-height stud partition. Ivy Cottage adjoins Hill Farm House and buildings, which are not included in this listing.
