Description
Old Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with remodels in the 18th century and alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of timber framing and brick, featuring brick nogging and steeply pitched pantile roofs. The building has some dentillated eaves, a single gable, and a single ridge stack. It is two storeys high, with five bays arranged in a single range of three sections at different heights.
The east front includes a single-storey lean-to addition on the left with a pantile roof and a plank door. To the right of this addition is a 20th-century door flanked by single casements with segmental heads. Further right are two small glazing bar lights, followed by two 20th-century casements. Above this section, there is a casement with a segmental head on the left and a small casement to its right. To the far right, there are two sloping dormers featuring Yorkshire sashes.
On the south gable, there is a casement with a segmental head on the left and another single casement above it. The rear elevation displays irregular fenestration with four casements and a Yorkshire sash, along with two casements, a small light, and another Yorkshire sash above. The north gable has a 20th-century door to the left and a 20th-century casement to the right, with two additional 20th-century casements above.
The refronted central section contains two bays of timber framing supported by two jowled bay posts, heavy tie beams, and a collar with a curved brace. The 16th-century roof features posts and struts to the spine beam, along with collars. Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered span beams and joists, a stud partition, a 17th-century plank door in the roof space, a framed panelled 17th-century door with a reeded band, four 18th-century panelled doors, and a single 18th-century plank door.
