Description
House, dating from the 16th century with significant additions and alterations in the early 19th century. The house is constructed of coursed rubble and brick, with timber framing and brick nogging. It has hipped and gabled slate roofs, featuring two external side wall stacks, a single rear wall stack, and a ridge stack. The house is two storeys high and originally three bays wide. The windows are mainly glazing bar sashes, and the openings have segmental brick heads. The south front, dating from the 19th century, features a central door with a fanlight, flanked by single sashes. Above, there are three sashes, with the central one being smaller. The north range is a 16th-century timber-framed hall house with two-storey wings, which were recased and refenestrated in the 17th and 19th centuries. The rear elevation demonstrates timber framing with arch braces across two bays. To the left is a gabled, single-storey lean-to outbuilding. To the right, a sash window is followed by a 19th-century single-storey outbuilding with a sash window flanked by single doors. Above this outbuilding are a casement window and a Yorkshire sash. The north-east end has 20th-century casement windows on each floor and a door to the right. The south-west end includes a single-storey outbuilding to the left, and to its right, a hipped rear wing with a 20th-century French window and, above, a Yorkshire sash. Further to the right is a gabled stair turret with a door in the return angle and a sash window above. The main block has a sash window above.
