Description

The footbridge over a drain on the west bank of the River Trent is a late 18th-century structure that carries the Trent towpath over a side stream. It is made of dressed stone and features a rectangular opening formed by a single stone lintel. The bridge has a chamfered plinth course and a low dressed stone parapet with rounded coping. These footbridges were constructed to create a towpath and facilitate drainage from the side stream into the river. The towpath along the Trent was completed by 1784.
