Description
This footbridge, located approximately 100 meters southeast of 28 St Helens Road, carries the Trent towpath over a side stream. It was built in the late 18th century and is constructed from dressed stone. The bridge features a rectangular opening formed by a single stone lintel and has a chamfered plinth course. It is flanked by a low dressed stone parapet with rounded coping. The footbridge was designed to facilitate the towpath and improve drainage from the side streams into the river. The towpath along the Trent in this area was completed by 1784.
