Coach House At Kingswood

This is a coach house dating to 1893, designed by Watson Fothergill for Mr. Marshall. It is constructed of red and blue brick, with some half-timbering. The roof is tiled, with a hipped section to the right and sprocketed eaves. The base, the lower portions of the domestic doorways, and the right corner are in blue brick, with the bricks having round molded edges. The first floor is half-timbered with herringbone brick infill. It is one and a half storeys high, with three bays, and features a first-floor sill band. A large doorway has a double plank door with glazing bars to the top. To the left of this is a single segmental arched casement window with glazing bars to the top. Further to the left is a doorway with a plank door set under a segmental arch. Above are three glazing bar casement windows. Projecting from the left is a two-storey plus attic single bay range, with a pyramidal tile roof, sprocketed eaves, and a weather vane. The bricks and half-timbering match the main range. This section includes a single segmental arched cross casement with wooden slats under the transom and glazing bars above. A doorway with a stable door and a glazing bar overlight is located under a segmental arch on the side wall. Above this is a small doorway with a plank double door, and a small glazing bar fixed light is on the side wall. The west, south, and east sides of the attic have single sloping hoods with entrances for pigeons. Further to the left is a single storey single bay with a similar cross casement. Later extensions are present to the rear. Inside the stable, original zinc troughs and iron stall divisions remain.
