Description

The building is a house, dating from the late 17th century, with alterations in the early 18th century and around 1800. It is built with a render over red brick, and has a plain tile roof with a single ridge and two gable stacks. The gables are coped with kneelers, and the eaves extend further and are supported on wooden brackets. The house is two storeys plus an attic, and has four bays. The left-hand bay is from the 17th century, the second from the left is 18th century, and the remainder dates to around 1800. A pointed arched entrance leads to an inner porch, with an inner doorway featuring a pointed arched, panelled, and glazed door with small side windows. To the right of the entrance is a single two-light Gothick casement window; to the left, a doorway with a double door and Gothick overlight, both using glazing bars; and further left, a single similar two-light casement. Above the entrance is a single two-light casement. A tripartite casement is to the left, and two similar casements to the right, all with pointed lights and Gothick glazing bars and set at different levels. The attic has a single plain tile and render dormer with a single two-light casement. The rear has projecting wings with various Gothick casement windows. A central, two-bay lean-to has a tripartite casement and a two-light casement to the right, both with mullions and 17th-century glass; above this is a single two-light Gothick casement. The interior of the 17th-century bay includes chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and a reset bressumer beam with 16th-century moulded detail.
