Description

Ferry Bridge is a footbridge over the River Trent, dated 1889. It is an iron suspension bridge with a single span. The deck features open lattice sides, supported by rod suspension from laminated steel bands. These bands are carried over elaborately moulded supporting towers, which also have moulded cross members. Each tower is topped with a shaped entablature that is inscribed with the date. The towers are set on circular cast iron piers with voluted capitals, and each end of the bridge is supported by a rusticated stone abutment.
