Description
The war memorial, built around 1920, is located on the north-west side of Carr Bank Memorial Park in Mansfield. It is constructed of ashlar and features a semicircular platform with central steps. The curved side is enclosed by a wall that has moulded coping and square end piers with moulded caps. At the top of the structure, there is a rectangular pedestal adorned with a cornice, a segmental pediment, and a blocking course. A central bronze wreath and an inscribed bronze tablet are positioned on the pedestal, which is flanked by ramped fluted buttresses. At the base of the pedestal, there is a smaller bronze tablet set in a sloping panel, also flanked by fluted buttresses and surrounded by a semicircular kerb. Each side of the pedestal has a short ramped coped wall that ends in a square pier with a stepped square cap.
