Description
The grotto on the north-west side of Carr Bank Memorial Park is a garden grotto dating from the early 19th century, which was restored in the late 20th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble, reinforced with concrete, and partly covered with earth. The grotto has a curving tunnel shape, featuring a triangular-headed entrance on the west side, two smaller openings on the south side, and two additional openings on the north side. The entrance on the east side has a concrete segmental arch. This grotto is likely part of the garden design associated with the nearby Carr Bank.
