Description
The war memorial and railing, located at the junction with Canterbury Avenue, was constructed around 1920. It is made of ashlar and features a wrought-iron railing and a bronze plaque. The memorial consists of a Portland stone octagonal shaft with cross gables, topped with a Celtic cross. It stands on an octagonal pedestal with a moulded top and an inscribed octagonal plinth. The base is also octagonal and is raised on three steps. The memorial is situated in a semicircular paved area, which is bordered at the front by a dwarf wall with chamfered coping, square end piers, and central steps with pedestals. At the rear, there is a railing that carries an inscribed bronze plaque.
