GV II

Former public house, now building society office. Dated 1888, restored and remodelled c1990. Ashlar with slate roof. Jacobean Revival style. Plinth, angle pilasters, cornices to each floor, coped parapet with moulded and shouldered central gable. Central round cornered oriel window with fluted bracket and frieze with swags, topped with a pedimented gable dated 1888. Central plain sash with round-headed top light, flanked by single curved sashes. Beyond, on either side, tripartite plain sashes with panelled pilasters. Above each window, double swags and below them, shaped aprons. Angle pilasters are fluted. Ground floor has central round-cornered moulded doorway with panelled pilasters, enriched keystone and floral spandrels. C20 metal-framed glazed door and overlight. On either side, late C20 shop windows. Included for group value.
