Description
Chell Food Products Limited is a building located on High Street in Mansfield Woodhouse, dating from the mid-18th century. It was originally a house and is now used as an office and store. The structure is made of coursed squared rubble, partly rendered, with some traces of timber framing, and features a steeply pitched pantile roof.
The building is two storeys tall with garrets and has an L-shaped plan, including a gabled rear wing. It has three bays, with the street front displaying an off-centre door set in a chamfered surround, accompanied by a plain sash window to the left and a small late 19th-century shop window with a moulded hood to the right. Above the door, there is a central margin-pane stair light flanked by single sashes.
On the east gable, there is a blocked door with a heavy stone lintel, and the garret has a blocked opening. The rear elevation features a projecting wing with a casement window on the left and a door with a timber lintel on the right. The return angle to the east has a stone mullioned casement window, with a Yorkshire sash above it. To the right of this, there is a fragment of a bay post and another casement window. Additionally, there are two 19th-century lean-to additions made of brick and stone, topped with pantile and slate roofs. On the south side, there is an off-centre casement flanked by single doors, and above, to the left, there is a blocked sloping dormer.
