Description
26 High Street is a house dating from the early 19th century, with a rear addition made in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed from coursed and squared rubble, with some areas rendered. It features a gabled M-shaped roof covered in pantiles, with a stone slate verge and two gable stacks. The house is two stories high and has a single bay with a double depth square plan. The windows are 19th-century sashes. The north front, which faces the street, includes a 19th-century shopfront with a door on the left and a moulded hood above. There is a central sash window above the shopfront. On the rear elevation, to the left, there is a casement window and a door, both featuring heavy stone lintels. To the right, there is a single-storey outbuilding made of brick and rendered, topped with a slate roof. Above this outbuilding, there are two Yorkshire sashes with stone lintels. An adjoining early 20th-century shop is noted but is not of special interest.
