Description
No. 21 High Street is a hotel building dating from the mid-18th century, which has been converted into flats around 1970. It is constructed of ashlar stone with a concrete tile roof and features ashlar dressings. The building has a sill band, plinth, projecting quoins, architraves, and moulded eaves, along with coped gables and kneelers. There are two gable stacks. The structure is three storeys high and consists of five bays.
The south front showcases a central Classical doorcase with pilasters, a keystone, and a pediment, featuring a panelled door with a fanlight. This doorcase is flanked by single ogee-headed footscrapers and two sash windows. Above the door, there is a central sash window with a moulded shouldered architrave and hood, flanked by two additional sash windows. On the top floor, there are five smaller 20th-century casement windows. The rear elevation is rendered and has 20th-century windows and two flat-roofed additions from the same period.
